Satellite map of Middle Cottage's location
The red marker indicates the position of Middle Cottage, on the edge of the village of Westleton, with Southwold to the
north, Aldeburgh to the south and the sea two-and-a-half miles to the
east at Dunwich. If you keep clicking the plus sign at the top left of the map to zoom
in on Middle Cottage, you will be
able to see clearly the cars parked in Westleton's main street.
For full screen press F11. Press again for normal view. Click on the markers for information.
Keep clicking until the map stops
zooming in. To look
at a different part of the map, draw the cursor across it. Left click
and
hold to 'grasp' the map and move it across the screen.
If you click on the red marker and then on 'Get directions to here', you will be given a route to the cottage. Click any of the blue markers for more information.
The
blue markers on the land show the positions of the
Visitors Centre at
RSPB Minsmere, the area of gorse and heather known as Dunwich Heath (which is owned by the National Trust), and the public bird hide nearby. The
marker in the sea just off Dunwich marks the opening scene of a
local mystery. Click on it to find out more.
Southwold
is about nine miles away by road, but as the crow flies, or indeed, as
the walker strides, it is a good deal closer - a six-mile walk
across Westleton Common and the Dingle Marshes with their reed-beds and
well-trodden paths.
To close any of the information windows, click on the cross at top
right of the caption bubble. Or move the cursor to any part of the map which is still visible and click.
