These extraordinary photographs of Aldeburgh and Orford were taken in October 2006 by Patrick and Marilyn Snodin using a kite made by Dan Leigh. To go to the Snodins' Flickr page, click here. Kite photography is one of the the oldest forms of aerial photography. Although it almost disappeared with the invention of the aeroplane, it was revived in the 1980s, a revival sustained in recent years by the internet.  A good introduction to the hobby and its history is provided by Charles Benton's website. Alternatively click here to download a PDF of the article 'Eye in the Sky' by Bruce Willey (1.5MB) or read the entry in wikipedia.
